The Dallas Group of America, Inc. has provided high quality adsorbent silicates to demanding industries for over 45 years. We are proud to supply these unique purification products to the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and energy industries to produce an array of widely recognized products. The Dallas Group is committed to providing our customers with safe and effective products that meet and exceed recognized regulatory and safety standards.
Our premier product, MAGNESOL®, is the world’s leading frying oil filtration product used in restaurant and industrial-scale frying. It is recognized as a safe and effective hydrous, amorphous synthetic magnesium silicate that attracts and removes off-flavors, odors, and color produced in frying oil during the frying process. Filtering oil though this unique product maintains its fresh quality. Finished food fried in oil filtered through MAGNESOL® consistently looks and tastes great while the operator will see reduced oil usage and operating costs. But great looking and tasting fried food isn’t all that MAGNESOL® provides. Studies show that filtering used frying oil daily through MAGNESOL® actually improves the oil’s nutritional value when compared to unfiltered oil or oil filtered through conventional filter aids.[1]
MAGNESOL® meets the specifications for hydrous amorphous synthetic magnesium silicate, and is approved for use in food, as set by:
The Dallas Group is proud to be able to claim that MAGNESOL® is GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by regulatory agencies in the United States, the European Union, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, and numerous other countries around the world. Used as a filter medium, MAGNESOL® is not a food additive, does not dissolve in frying oil, does not remain in the oil after filtration, and is removed from oil during the filtration process. Being a synthetic magnesium silicate [CAS# 1343-88-0; INS number: 553(i)], MAGNESOL® is amorphous (i.e., contains no crystalline silica), and is chemically distinct from and not classified as a natural magnesium silicate such as talc or asbestos, which do contain crystalline and/or fibrous silica or silicate.
To ensure that our products meet the various regulatory requirements around the world and to navigate the often confusing and complex regulatory environment, The Dallas Group retains the legal services of Keller & Heckman, a globally recognized law firm specializing in food regulatory matters. With offices in Brussels, Shanghai, Washington DC, and San Francisco, Keller & Heckman (www.khlaw.com) provides expert assistance with food safety issues relating to the use of The Dallas Group’s products and provides our customers with advice and assurance that our products are safe and meet appropriate legal requirements. This is just one of the many value-added services that distinguishes The Dallas Group from its competition.[2]
The Dallas Group’s laboratories are staffed with degreed chemists, engineers, and technicians who perform quality checks on every production lot to ensure that all products and raw materials meet specifications for quality and purity. Selected staff routinely participates in the American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) Approved Chemists Program and have been awarded Proficiency Program Winner status in the AOCS NIOP Fats and Oils Program.
Our commitment to Food Safety is further evidenced by:
We recognize that safe and effective products help make our customers profitable. Our commitment is to provide value to our customers. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of excellence and have developed the expertise and created the programs needed to manufacture highest quality adsorbent filter aids in the world.
